A bag containing almost $5,000 that was supposed to be deposited at the bank didn't get to its destination.

Instead, a cashier at that 7-Eleven gas station in Florida was taken to jail.

According to her arrest report, another employee told the manager the bag containing $4,840 from Friday, April 26, was missing.

The manager showed up at “the store to review the video cameras” and reported seeing “the deposit bag on the floor next to the safe at 0825 hours on 4/28/2024.”Then, he said, “Another employee, Cynthia Fillmore, noticed the bag and picks it up multiple times until about 0940 hours, at one point throwing it further back under the counter.

“The original employee that put the deposit together comes into the store at approximately 0930 hours and mentions the deposit bag to the defendant.

“Then, at approximately 0948 hours, the defendant can be seen grabbing the bag again, lifting her shirt, and making movements to conceal the bag under her clothing.“The defendant then stands up, adjusting her clothing, and looking around her.

“The defendant was asked later if she knew where the bag was, to which she advised she did not know.”

Police paid a visit to Fillmore’s home and said “she understood her rights but was unsure what officers were present for.”

The arrest report continued, “I advised her my reason for being at her residence, and she originally denied knowledge of the deposit money.“Once the defendant was detained and handcuffed, she advised she would show officers the location of the deposit bag and money.

“The defendant led officers into her residence and to a hallway closet, where she advised the bag and money were under a towel.”

Officers located the bag “and a portion of the money,” the arrest report said. “The defendant advised the entire total was not there as she had spent some of it.”

They ended up counting $3,040 of the $4,840.

Fillmore, 59, was charged with grand theft between $750 and $5,000 and she spent less than nine hours in jail, until her release in lieu of $2,500 bond.
