ALTOONA, Pa. -- Organizers of the first-ever Pennsylvania Roundhouse Rally in Altoona say they consider the weekend a success.

The event was not affiliated in any way with Johnstown’s “Thunder in the Valley” bike rally or any other events across the region, but rather a stand-alone event that organizers hope to grow even more next year.

The event started Wednesday and continued through Sunday. It featured dozens of vendors and entertainment each night, including local country singer and NBC’s "The Voice" finalist, Josh Galligher.

Organizers agree the weather could have been better, but overall they were pleased with the turnout.

“The community in Altoona, the businesses and the local people, they were so into this, you know and that's what it's all about,” said Bill Wilkinson, co-founder of the event. “They benefited from it. So, Dave and I are very pleased with the responses."

"Our dream is to make this big like a Daytona or Myrtle Beach [rally,]” said Wilkinson. “My thing that I’m really looking at is that I hope that we can move this forward, and I would one day like to see a tri-county rally."

Organizers said they received such a great response, they've already heard from other towns that would like to get involved next year. Because the event was so widespread, with a number of different fundraisers across Altoona, the total proceeds raised for area charities are still being tallied.
