Boeing, the planemaker, is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration after "required inspections" may have not been completed.

The FAA confirmed to The National Desk on Monday it opened an investigation into Boeing's 787 Dreamliner planes.

Boeing came forward and "informed" the FAA in April that it "may have not completed required inspections to confirm adequate bonding and grounding where the wings join the fuselage on certain 787 Dreamliner airplanes."

Investigators are looking at whether the company completed the inspections and whether employees may have falsified aircraft records, stated an FAA spokesperson.

At this time, reinspections by Boeing are taking place for all 787 airplanes, according to the FAA.

Boeing was ordered to create a plan to address the in-service fleet.

As the investigation continues, the FAA will take any necessary action – as always – to ensure the safety of the flying public.
