ALTOONA, Pa (WJAC) — Officials with PA CareerLink announced that due to the ongoing flood remediation at the Altoona Public Library, a temporary CareerLink site will open at the Downtown Altoona Transportation Center, beginning on Monday, Feb. 1.
“With so many people out of work, many are looking to the future. They come to CareerLink asking for no-cost assistance with their job searches and personal coaching – and they often need some connections to community resources that can help get them on their feet,” says Gwen Fisher, PA CareerLink Site Administrator. “We’re so grateful to the City of Altoona for sharing this space; we will help a lot of people.”
While PA CareerLink continues to offer numerous virtual services, including job search and resume assistance, career workshops and skill assessments, the temporary site will offer limited, on-site services by appointment.
The on-site services will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and include the following:
- Use of the PA CareerLink Computer Resource Center for job search activities
- Referrals to our professional career counselors
- Connections to community agencies for assistance with GEDs, disabilities, housing, and more
- Copying (no faxing) documents for the unemployment compensation office
