Altoona police chief responds to multiple officers in trouble with the law

ALTOONA -- This week Altoona police are waiting for blood-test results to determine charges for an officer who allegedly drove under the influence over the weekend, making him the third officer to face charges or citations in recent months. Chief Janice Freehling said Monday that she does not condone any of this behavior and that "the matters are being dealt with." Freehling said Officer Erik Stirk, who was off-duty at the time, was arrested and consented to blood tests.

Big Run man dead after high-speed chase with police ends with fiery crash

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — A high-speed police pursuit Monday night ended with the driver dead after he crashed into a motorcycle shop in Big Run, Jefferson County, state police say. The crash caused massive structural damage to the building of Best Kawasaki Motorcycles. Around 10:30 p.m., Punxsutawney police say they attempted to pull over a red Dodge Caliber when it refused to stop. They say it went on U.S. 119 into Big Run.
