FAA opens new probe into Boeing's inspections, records

WASHINGTON (TND) — Boeing, the planemaker, is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration after "required inspections" may have not been completed. The FAA confirmed to The National Desk on Monday it opened an investigation into Boeing's 787 Dreamliner planes. Boeing came forward and "informed" the FAA in April that it "may have not completed required inspections to confirm adequate bonding and grounding where the wings join the fuselage on certain 787 Dreamliner airplanes.

Man sentenced to 21 to 42 years in teen girlfriend's slaying

MILFORD, Pa. (AP) — A man has been sentenced to 21 to 42 years in prison in the slaying of his teenage girlfriend, whose body was found buried on a llama farm in northeastern Pennsylvania. Twenty-seven-year-old Sky McDonough of Milford was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty earlier to third-degree murder and custodial interference. Prosecutors in Pike County said 17-year-old Leanna Walker left home with the McDonough in April 2016, and they camped in several locations, including the Milford Township llama farm where he used to work.

PSU Baseball's Biasi drafted by Royals Tuesday

UNIVERSITY PARK -- Penn State redshirt-sophomore pitcher Dante Biasi (Hazleton, Pa.) was selected by the Kansas City Royals early in the sixth round of 2019 Major League Baseball Draft Tuesday afternoon, becoming the 10th-highest selection in school history. Biasi was selected by the Royals with the 169th overall pick, also becoming the highest-selected left-handed pitcher in Penn State history (Jim Farr; 1974 – 200th overall, 9th round, Chicago White Sox), the highest-selected Nittany Lion pitcher overall since 2008 (Drew O’Neill; 120th overall, 4th round, Chicago White Sox) and the highest-selected Nittany Lion overall since 2010 (Ben Heath; 153rd overall, 5th round, Houston Astros).

Steel Bridge reopens to vehicle traffic after freight train derailment

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A Union Pacific freight train derailed on the east end of the Steel Bridge on Monday morning, forcing the closure of the entire bridge for several hours. The train derailed shortly after 6 a.m. on the railroad tracks on the lower deck of the bridge. Shortly before 10:30 a.m., the bridge was reopened to traffic and an Amtrak train was seen going along the tracks. Firefighters said six cars were involved and two of them were lumber cars.
