Johnstown Tomahawks head coach resigns

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Johnstown Tomahawks head coach Mike Letizia has resigned, the team announced Monday morning. Letizia has been a member of the Tomahawks' coaching staff for all 12 seasons, including 10 as the head coach. During his tenure, the Tomahawks won 338 regular season games and an NAHL East Division title in 2018-19 season. He was also named the National Coach of the Year following the 2018-19 season.

Louisiana set to classify abortion pills as controlled dangerous substances

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Two abortion-inducing drugs could soon be reclassified as controlled and dangerous substances in Louisiana under a first-of-its-kind bill that received final legislative passage Thursday and is expected to be signed into law by the governor. Supporters of the reclassification of mifepristone and misoprostol, commonly known as "abortion pills," say it would protect expectant mothers from coerced abortions. Numerous doctors, meanwhile, have said it will make it harder for them to prescribe the medicines that they use for other important reproductive health care needs, and could delay treatment.

Former Penguins Johnson, Schultz sign with Metro Division rivals

Pittsburgh, Pa (WJAC) — Friday was opening day for NHL free agency and the Pittsburgh Penguins saw two of their former defenders ink deals with division rivals. According to NHL.com, Jack Johnson, who was recently placed on waivers by Pittsburgh, signed a 1-year contract with the New York Rangers. Additionally, two-time Stanley Cup champion Justin Schultz signed a two-year deal with the Washington Capitals. The Schultz deal is reportedly worth $4 million per year, NHL.
