UPDATE | Jefferson Co., PA (WJAC) — Officials with the Punxsutawney Area School District confirmed to 6 News that the school board has officially accepted the resignation of co-principal Paul Hetrick.
District officials say Hetrick submitted his resignation on Monday and the school board voted to approve it on Tuesday.
Hetrick said in a statement that he was resigning from his position due to "personal struggles."
The school district confirmed that Hetrick is no longer an employee and a disciplinary hearing that was scheduled for next week has now been cancelled.
Viewers and Conemaugh patients reached out to 6 news and said they heard Conemaugh medical was closing their One Tech Drive building.
Thursday, a spokesperson with Conemaugh said that was misinformation, but did acknowledge changes are coming.
The one tech drive office will continue offering the same services to patients going forward according to Conemaugh marketing communications director Tammy Barbin.
Doctor Phillip Gvozden said he is being let go by Conemaugh and will be out of the One Tech Drive building sometime in April.
MACCLENNY, Fla. (WPEC) — A babysitter in Florida is facing an aggravated manslaughter charge after she left a 10-month-old girl in a hot car, according to the Baker County Sheriff's Office (BCSO).
Rhonda Jewell, 46, picked up a 10-month-old infant from the child’s mother Wednesday and has watched the child on multiple occasions since June, deputies said. Jewell proceeded to drive to another home in south Macclenny, where she was going to babysit other children as well, a press release stated.
BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — A local group of evangelists are heading to Harrisburg this weekend for a Bible reading marathon.
For the third year in a row, the Way of Truth Ministries from Altoona will be helping to read the Bible, from front to back, on the steps of the state capitol building.
The group says lawmakers, passersby and volunteers can also participate.
The goal is for the Bible to be read continuously, from beginning to end, over the course of several days to show lawmakers their commitment to God's word.
HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) -- Last week, the Hollidaysburg Area School District moved both its senior and junior high schools to virtual learning until December 1.
But following a recent school board meeting, the entire district is going remote until at least early 2021.
“We spoke with the school board and they were very open to hear what we were saying,” said Dr. Maureen Letcher, Hollidaysburg Area Senior High principal. “The same reason why we went completely remote until December 1 is the reason why we are extending it.
