Logan Township police chief resigns over medical issue

LOGAN TOWNSHIP – Logan Township Police Chief Tim Mercer will resign from his job in March because of an undisclosed medical issue. His resignation was accepted by Logan Township supervisors Thursday night. Mercer’s last day will be March 6, 2018. He previously retired from the Pennsylvania State Police. “This has not been an easy decision for me,” Mercer said in his resignation letter. “I can assure everyone that I have given this an immense amount of thought and prayer.

Man charged for choking, threatening woman; stealing her car along Rt. 219

Somerset Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Somerset County say a man is behind bars after he reportedly assaulted and threatened a woman over the weekend, and then stole her car, all while the two were traveling along Route 219. Police say on Saturday, officers were dispatched to Route 219 southbound, near the Jerome exit, for a report of a domestic disturbance. Investigators say the victim told officers that she was driving her vehicle along the highway and that 42-year-old Justin Klink, who is known to her, was in the passenger seat.

The Arc holds artisan and craft show in Blair County

ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — The Arc of Blair County held an artisan and craft show Saturday. The Arc is a program that serves anyone from any age with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism, anxiety disorders, reading and speech delays, Down syndrome and other developmental or intellectual disabilities or mental health diagnoses. All the vendors were participants in the The Arc program. They created the handmade crafts and were able to keep the money they had earned.

Johnstown airport having most success in last 20 years

Johnstown Airport Officials said the last two months have been the best two months they've had in the last 20 years. Today local, state, and federal officials gathered at the John Murtha Airport in Johnstown to talk about the state of aviation in Pennsylvania. Representatives of the Johnstown Airport said their future looks bright. “The Johnstown Airport over the last several years has done more in development than it has in decades,” Johnstown Airport Authority Chairman Rick McQuaide said.
