LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Xander Schauffele faced yet another major champion down the stretch and this time delivered some magic of his own. He swirled in a 6-foot birdie putt on the final hole Sunday to win the PGA Championship for his first major championship in another thriller at Valhalla. The birdie putt denied Bryson DeChambeau — and LIV Golf — a chance at another major title and put Schauffele in the record book with the lowest 72-hole score in major championship history.

Bill improving air safety, service for travelers clears Senate, day before FAA law expires

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate has passed a $105 billion bill designed to improve air safety and customer service for air travelers, a day before the law governing the Federal Aviation Administration expires. The bipartisan bill, which comes after a series of close calls between planes at the nation’s airports, would boost the number of air traffic controllers, improve safety standards and make it easier for customers to get refunds after flights are delayed or canceled.

Pitt-Johnstown announces Athletics Hall of Fame class

JOHNSTOWN — The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown will induct five new members as part of the 13th Athletics Hall of Fame class on Saturday, April 18 in the Pitt-Johnstown Wellness Center. This year’s class includes: Ron Haden '95 (Men’s Basketball), Mike Mastovich '85 (Meritorious Service), Sally Mosay '89 (Women’s Basketball), Brandon Newill '02 (Wrestling), and Ben Watkins '10 (Baseball). Pitt-Johnstown will also recognize all of the former Hall of Fame inductees and former student-athletes in attendance.

POASD Votes to Push Back School Start time

PHILIPSBURG, Pa — The Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District is looking at a change for next school year. Tonight, the school board voted for the schools’ start times to get pushed back. The school district says the need for change comes with the best interest of the students in mind. Board members say research has shown that later start times for students are better because they are able to get an extra 40 minutes of sleep.
