Retail stores in Cambria County have now reopened their doors after moving into the yellow phase of reopening.

One of those stores was Adorned Boutique in Johnstown. The shop welcomed customers back inside for the first time in almost two months.

“We were very steady. Business was very steady. It wasn’t overwhelming so we were able to maintain safe distancing and I think everyone was just really excited to be back to some sense of normalcy,” said Adorned owner, Jessica Martella.

During their closure, the store missed two major days of purchasing.

“Missing the Easter holiday and then Mother’s Day, Mother’s Day is like our number two next to Christmas. So, missing that was a huge blow,” said Martella.

The community has shown their support.

“A lot of people were holding off trying to buy gifts. But a lot of people were just treating themselves because we just need a little pick me up after having been at home for so long,” said Martella.

Employees at Adorned are taking several precautions.

“Of course, all the staff is wearing masks and we are asking customers to do the same. We are also asking everyone to social distance and keep six feet away. If there are too many people in the store to allow that to happen, we are asking customers to wait until some of the other customers leave. And then sanitizing high touched surfaces, we are doing that after each customer,” said Martella.
